I stupidly wanted to change my netwok card from Intel Pro-100 to a Reltek 8169, a Gigabit nic. Stupid, isn't it??

- Well, I went in the MPTS, and removen the protpcols and network card.
- Then I inttalled the new driver found in rtgnda08.zip, modified this month.
- added the protocols: "0-TCP-IP", "0-Netbios", and "1-Netbios over TCP-IP".
- Shut down the machine, remove the Intel card, add the Realtek card, start the machine, tell the bios to reset the PnP table.
- Reboot of the PC. Error why loadings things. Probably trace of the intel driver in the Config.sys. I'll se that later, I thought. The rt8169 driver load. The TCP-IP worked, but not the PEER.

after mulétiple test, I thought it was a better idea to remove all the lan/network and reinstall everything. I uset MPTS to remove everything, and the "Lan service Installation and Configure" to remove the rest.
After reboot, I deleted the TCP-IP, MPTS and IBMLAN directories.

An to try to reinstall, I used the file "ecs1.1-cd1" s:\cid\server\mpts\install.cmd

It seemem that the install went OK. But no, the IBMLAN dir isn't back, the MPTS isn't back in the SETUP folder, and peer don't work..

You know what? I am not happy!

How do we reinstall all the network??
On http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_issues/VNL0398H/vnewsft.htm I found this nice advise:
3) reinstall MPTS, TCP/IP and PEER in that order.

Yes, but how? Where do I find the correct CMD or EXE file in the eCS CD to reinstall this???

Any help will be welcome.

Hi,

The EXE's you need to install are found on the eCS CD #1.

To reinstall, here's what you'll need (changing the x: to the drive letter of your CD Rom)

x:\cid\server\mpts\mpts.exe
(install MPTS)

x:\cid\server\tcpapps\install.cmd
(installs TCP/IP)

x:\cid\server\ibmls\ibm500r1\install.cmd
(installs Peer)

Just to comment, for future times that you may change out a network card, rather then going through the mess of removing protocols, then reinstalling protocols, and such, if you go into the MPTS setup, then to the Configuration screen, find your new network card on the list of network cards (or do the ADD option if you need to), then just hit the "Change" icon, and it will change out your old Network card driver with the new one, keeping the same protocols that were there. Then just shut down and pop in your new network card (if you're lucky it can be that easy) That way you won't end up messing up the Peer and TCP/IP setups (they're linked to the Protocol, not the actual Network Card driver).

Hope this helps.

Thank you! I was looking for these information!

But I messed too much with my poor system. I couldn't reinstall the network. Then I did a full clean install.

But I will keep these information.

Thank you for your help,

V.
