1. Connecting to a computer projector

For the first time I've connected my laptop to a projector when using eCS. It worked very well. But my own screen is shut off/black. I guess that many of you guys have made presentations and the like with your OS/2 or eCS laptops and I wonder:

- Is it some configuration in eCS I shall do, that I haven't done?

- Is it due to that my graphic card (an S3 Pro Savage DDR) is not natively supported(on laptops at least) by SNAP, only as VESA VBE 2.0?

- Is it maybee due to my ACER-screen(Aspire 1350), which have the quality to be black at nearly the whole boot up process?

- Do you maybee all have it that way, is it a limitation in eCS(OS/2)?

Greatful for a tip!

It is probably because of having to run VESA. My old Dell laptop worked great with screen and projector. This new Thinkpad works OK now with the latest SNAP drivers but the earlier drivers didn't as the Video Bios didn't support it at my resolution.

Ok!
Thanks a lot for the answer, then I don't have to bother my brain with configurations, settings and so on.

Visit http://my.scitechsoft.com/navigate.php to sign up for a personal account. Then you can generate and download your PE Edition of Scitech Snap Drivers v3.0 for your S3 Prosavage DDR (KM266) video card.

Thanks for your tip, but it doesn't work because my S3 savage DDR is of some other sort than they support.

Are you sure there isn't a switch or key combination to have both screens available? My Thinkpad T20 uses Fn-F7 to cycle between internal - external - both. I have regularly used a projector with it.

Well, there is such a button, Fn-F5 shall provide that shift, but it doesn't work like most of the other Fn-buttons,(when using eCS), eg brightness of screen. I guess now after what have been said here that it is due to the computer, which probably is WINXP-adapted a little too much!

Thanks a lot anyway!

OK, one last shot - does this have to be switched on in the BIOS?

I will have to change my last statement. Actually, Stuart, there was a setting in bios regarding the screen, which I've overseen. One can choose "auto" or "both" and when changing to both it really works! I doesn't affect the Fn-F5 combination, so I cant switch between screens, but the laptop screen works simultaneously.

Thanks again Stuart for pointing to that possibility!
