1. RSJ & USB-CD R/W |
|
|
| I received a not so encouraging notes from RSJ when I ask them if they can support USB CD-RW. "To use an USB drive with RSJ CD Writer you could try to use a driver which let appear the USB drive as a SCSI device." Anybody know if such a driver exists? I saw messages on this site that some people have succeeded using the FORMAT command but nobody said anything whether they were able to get RSJ or CDRecord to work.... Kim Cheung |

| I am very interested in this as well! I have an Iomega USB CD burner that I have never been able to burn to using OS/2 or eCS and have always had to keep a dual boot system for the purpose of burning CDs. If anyone knows of a way to get the USB listed as a SCSI or IDE port so that programs like RSJ can access the drive it would be great to know about. Shadallark

I have posted your question at a couple of other groups. I have an USB CDRW from Buslink but have not tried it on my OS/2 Warp Ver 4 with fixpak 15 computer. It would be nice to know more about how before trying. I will check the posts to see if there are any replys.
OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end.

There are *lots* of USB 2.0 based CD/DVD +/- RWriters. I think it's important to get support for these units. It really sounds like it should be possible. We need to "enourage" RSJ to look into it.

| The more people who ask RSJ, they will see the greater need for its support (or at least looking into it). Is it seen by the USB drivers? Is it seen (at least) as a cd-rom drive? Would RSJ work with after that? (after it is seen as a cd-rom drive?).

Yes, there is no problem using it as a cd-rom drive. Whicheverway I tried, RSJ won't work with it.

Is there somone who has used the new support for making UDF-filesystem on CD-RW & DVD-RW via USB-cd-dvd-writer? I have managed to format a CD-RW but after I'm told that the CD-RW is can't be accessed. I can't do nothing. Somebody who have come further in this matter?? I've looked att warp.be and th reports seems not so good as I can see. Have somebody really moved or copied files to there CD-RW? ? |

| You can try to contact with Markus Montkowski. As I know he is the author of this driver. |

Sorry, no experience of usb connected cdrw drives but: That sounds awfully like the problems encountered when trying to use earlier versions of udf with an "unsupported" atapi cdrw. Are you using the latest idedasd update, usb drivers and udf214 packages? - if not I suggest that you give them a try. Regards Pete |

Hi Kim How does one contact them. I have been to their site, and nowhere have I found an email address to contact them. I would gladlly pay another upgrade price if that is what it takes to get USB support. David |

| Well I have used the latest driver pack from IBM, which you suggest, but no luck. I've also tried with the latest Danidrivers which works as "well", that is, you can format but no more. I'm not a technician and just wonder, what thing is getting so hard when talking usb-cd-r-rw? I just downloaded a freeware-burning programme from download.com for windows and it's working just fine(on windows...). Is it a hard technic problem to overcome or what..? |
