1. Snap ENT - automatic resolution change? |
| I have a T20, and I have just acquired a new 19" flat screen external monitor, which does 1280x1024. The native screen goes as far as 1024x768, and anything higher involves scrolling around the desktop. Currently I have SNAP SE installed as part of eCS 1.2 At the moment, a resolution change requires a reboot. Will SNAP ENT (as promised for eCS 2.0) allow on-the-fly resolution changes? Stuart |

No, OS/2 is not capable of on the fly resolution changing without major modification by IBM, this is not a fault in the video drivers but in the way pmshell is run. |

last updated at 30 Aug, 2006 22:48 (1 times) Sorry, but you are mis-informed.PMSHELL is **extremely** capable of on-the-fly screen re-sizing. SNAP (SE and ENT) both will allow the on-the-fly resizing if the particular video adapter supports the changing of its modes via VESA programming. There are a number of adapters that this works on, and a number (the majority) where this does not (unfortunately). SNAP only does this on some certified adapters, to prevent display corruption. The changes to PM and GRE (Graphics Rendering Engine interface to GRADD) were made in 1999 for changes requested to WSOD. Resolution can more often be changed on the fly, but not colour depth. Anyway to know what adapters allow this? |
