I stated HandyFTP but found it rather confusing to use. Could one use it to upload files (html, jpg, etc) to a web site? I am trying to find a way to show photos on my web site (I upload them to the site but they do not show even though they are viewable when I created the web page using Composer in Mozilla).

It is part of my isp service with ATTGlobalNetwork
http://www.attglobal.net (they still have an OS/2 dialer).

I took a look at your web-page to see if I could locate the error. According to PMView, when I open your pictures it tells me that they are an unrecognized format. What format have you saved them in? Are they actually gif's?

I originally had them as .jpg files then converted to .gif files using PMView. I can not get them to be seen when viewing the site with a browser(s - I tried different ones on different computers which had different os's) but was able to see them on my home/Warp computer in the Composer with Mozilla 1.5. I wanted to try HandyFTP thinking the files might have been damaged somehow when being uploaded using the pmftp program that came with the IAK from IBM. I have tried uploading them a couple of times but without success. There is one .gif file that shows but none others do.

The the only thing I can think of is that the file is not being uploaded in binary mode. From memory, if a file is transferred in ASCII mode, there may some translation CR/LF characters depending on the two types of systems involved. But, I don't see an option in HandyFTP to change this setting, so it is probably doing it automatically based on files extension. Alternatively, it's server that's messing it up.

Have you tried another FTP client to upload the file? There is FTPPM on you system, and the command-line FTP as well.

PMView. This need not be a problem of uploading. I have seen many times that PMView does strange things to your files. A file, which was always .jpg becomes suddenly an "unrecognized format" after saving by PMView (unrecognized even for PMView itself), an .ico file becomes unusable as an icon, a larger .jpg (above 1024x768x32) is sometimes unusable as a wallpaper, and so on, and so on
I don't know what's happening here. I don't know how to get rid of these faults. Try again without PMView.

With FTP-PM that came with Warp, I had (unknowingly) the settings for 'ASCII'. When some one mentioned a 'binary' upload, I checked it and found the 'ASCII' and binary setting. I changed it to 'binary' and used it to upload the pictures. I checked my site ( http://pws.prserv.net/usinet.tomleem ) with different browsers. The photos can be seen instead of getting an error message or not showing at all (just an empty box).

Tom,

The pictures are now looking good as you already said

Sorry about 'over posting it'. I have been trying to figure out why the photos never showed on my web site. I guess I was just very enthusiastic about it showing up. I am okay now.
