If I may I'd like to draw attention to the Netlabs site.
<http://www.netlabs.org/eclipseos2/>
As I get time, which isn't as often as I'd like, I contribute.

Now to see how long this system will stay running before the 5V rails fuse the ATX connectors together.
Regards,
Daniel

SWT is a buggy UI library created in ages where Swing was slow and buggy, while now Swing fast and powerfull.

Just few apps use SWT, first and main is Eclipse. Eclipse is very good IDE, but useless without new and native JVM 5.

Another app which uses SWT is Azureus. For normal work it also requires Java 1.5. (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/faq.php#5).

Is it reasonable invest in SWT port to tun just two apps?
Maybe much more important do port of new Java 6, Mustang?

I could use SWT for an internal application here as well as the Lotus Workplace which will allow access to LN, sametime, etc. I have seen a few other apps that use it.

SWT is important as this is more or less the only reason why I need to boot Windows (IBM Visual Age for Java 4 and Eclipse).
The other Java Editors suck except for Eclipse (the successor of VAJ) and IDEA.

I have tried Borland JBuilder, Sun Netbeans,... and I don't like them.
The other reason to port SWT and Eclipse: It would also be a great editor for OpenWatcom (current focus is GCC).

Azureus works with Java 1.4.x. I would call the FAQ suggestion a workaround to bugs in their Azureus code.

I think I'll offer some money for the SWT port and also OpenWengo (VoIP) and hopefully other will also add some.
