| I have an IBM wifi card in my T23. The driver seems to load but it failed to register the IRQ with the resource manager and failed to register the device (IIRC on the second half) with the resource manager. How do I get it to register with the resource manager? I have eCS 1.2 running on the Thinkpad. I bought the upgrade just recently; therefore, it is the most recent release. Any help would be appreciated.

It is quite normal for network cards not to show up in resource manager... In fact the only ones which I ever knew to show up were old MCA boards in PS/2 systems. The problem is most likely an IRQ conflict.. you'd have to use a pci snooper to see what irq it is using and what it is conflicting with.

Sometimes you have to disable a port device to begin your trial and error tunning of your Config.sys so that your devices will be recognized by Thinkpads. Make sure that the line: DEVICE=X:\OS2\BOOT\COM.SYS (where X is, of course, your OS/2 boot drive) If the above statement exists make sure that the drivers that reference the support for your PCCARD (if any) of the form: $ICPMOS2.SYS are BELOW your Config.sys statement: DEVICE=X:\OS2\BOOT\COM.SYS You may also play disabling/enabling the resource assignments (for example, infrared) with the DOS based Configuration utility: There used to be a native version for OS/2 --the last time I used it was on a TP600e-- apparently, it is not available for T23s, but try searching for it. Additionally, use the RMVIEW.EXE /IRQ utility available and if you see, for example, two IRQs are being assigned to the same device; if so, then either in BIOS and/or with the DOS configuration utility, attempt to modify the resources claimed to one per device. Do not forget to reboot after a SINGLE modification otherwise you will not know if your changes took effect. Equally important, BEFORE rebooting mark your Resource Manager Properties to full hardware detection on the next system restart (elaborating about it, this is the first thing that you should try before any thing else).
Do not the current masters of the OS/2 code provide any support, whatsoever? |

| I tried the pcisniifer from Hobbes. It shows the card as a Broadcom Corp BCM4306(??) 802.11g Wireless NIC. There is a Broadcom driver in the network setup program. I will give it a try and return with the results.

| I contacted Broadcom but they said they do not have the drivers. They said I should get in touch with the seller/'manufacturer' of the card. I guess that would be IBM. I am still working on it to 'register'. The pci sniffer indicates it is using IRQ 11 which seems to be used by another device.
