1. Activating onboard nic |
|
|
| Hello, I want to activate Ethernet (TCPIP, netbeui, . . ) on Warp 4 (by MPTS). For this I've firts to load the corresponding nic-driver. I get errors when I boot up the PC. Here is what I get : BroadCom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet OS/2 NDIS Driver v1.11 (020510) Copyright (D) 2002 Broadcom Corporation. All rights reserved. Could not find adapter
The driver failed to load. SYS1201: The device driver C:\IBMCOM\MACS\B57.OS2 specified in the DEVICE statement on line 140 of the CONFIG.SYS file was not installed. Line 140 is ignored. Press Enter to continue . . . ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCDIFADDR): no such interface SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable Press Enter to continue . . . Does somebody know how to activate the onboard NIC (B57) of a HP Compaq Evo NC6000 (in OS2 WARP V4). When I specify the PCI-bus and device (in the protocol.ini) as windows reports, this will not solve the problem. Thanks,

Is it enabled in the bios? When it first boots up, one can get into the bios settings. Could it be disabled? It might not be the answer but worth checking.

Could be IRQ (interrupt) sharing problem. Several main boards have this problem, they come with windoze drivers for it, leaving the rest of the world out. PC's are sold with a working windoze installed and that's it, if you like it or not, they have deals with M$. Solutions; Try to give the nic an exclusive interrupt in the bios if possible which is not shared with other devices. not always easy to do. Search in hobbes for pciirq and set the interrupt in eCS with this driver. |
