1. 'Paint' pgoram for OS/2? |
|
|
Are there any good 'paint' programs for OS/2? One that is similar to the 'paint' program for Windows? Ones that aren't anything like the 'paint' program in Windows but are still great?

| A very easy and nice program is Embellish. There is no more devolpment put into this piece of software; but I like it very much. If You haven't tried it out, you should. Think that You would be able to find it at Hobbes. If not let me know and I'll put online of the ftp server here at OS2 World. //Kim |

Thanks for the recomendation. I found it at http://www.bmtmicro.com. There was a price for it. I went to the developers web site at http://www.dadaware.com (IIRC) and it was no longer for sale. It was free for download. They had an OS/2 version and a Windows version. I have tried the Windows version and will be trying the OS/2 version soon. DaDaWare is no more but they allow everyone to download it for free (support is no longer there since DaDaWare is no longer in operation - only a small problem which users could help each other with).

Yepp, forgot to say about that the software is actually discontinued. But, I've been using it for around two years now and actually all images here at OS2 World is done with Embellish... well, I might not be an graphic artist and some times color blind But, reason for the sort of odd color was since I created the layout on a IBM ThinkPad and using a TFT-screen with color work is not a good idea. On the TFT-screen the color looked more blue....Another good software is PhotoTiger; a more advanced and take a while longer to learn. Check out following link for more graphic resources: http://www.os2world.com/links/Software/Graphics/ //Kim |

| Saw today that there was a news flash about DrawIt, I've never used it or even tried it out. But, guess that it can be worth trying out. //Kim |

JPhotoBrush is one good program. Well it is mainly a photo editing and enhancement program but got some drawing features as well. I wished it had some more of its drawing tool. but got a variety of effects.http://tanveer.freeservers.com/JPhotoBrushPro.htm |

I saw some programs at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu after using paint as a search word. They are Blue Paint, PMPaint, Paint Shop Pro, Maule desktop publisher and (IIRC) WarPaint - part of a suite by Pillarsoft ( http://www.pillarsoft.net/suite.html ). Most are - kinda - old but a couple are more current (ie; WarPaint).

| Gimp.org doesn't have anything regarding OS2. But saw in the news posting that it's available from Netlabs. |

| Hi Big Guy! I've seen several good recommendations here, but I've seen a demo of DrawIt at Warpstock Europe, and I'm pretty sure this is exactly what you need. And unlike some of the other options mentioned before, this is a real OS/2 app making use of WPS, Palettes, etc. and it is still supported by the author.

Don't bother to download Embellish from BMTMicro, they have the older timebombed shareware version. The one on hobbes is the latest one released as freeware, that's the same one that has been on dadaware server after they finally gave up. I have uploaded it onto hobbes and added a readme.1st about installation because the original installer doesn't work. BTW, if you know where to upload the winblows version, let me know, because it's a great program and I just don't want to have it dissappear |
