On my trip tp Las vegas I found this arcade that uses Windows. Logically the arcade was crashed and unusable.

Yeah.. imagine there was no windows.. then we would still have great games..
I still remember the days of Spacequest and kingsquest.
2,3 or 4 floppies and many weeks of fun.. a lot of screens..
Then windows came..
Now you need a very expensive graphics accelerator because windows doesn't know how to draw..
An adventure is now about 2-10 CD's!!! or DVD and in 1!!! evening its finished, only 3-6 rooms and you walk in circles all the time..
The windows versions of kingsquest are horrible. It’s not even an adventure anymore in my eyes.....
Just imagine there was no windows.. how happy our kids would be.. the world would be much better. the kids have no time anymore to become terrorist..
Imagine a world without windows.. how peaceful it would be.. no more aggressive and irritating people.. peace and love all around..
Imagine a world without windows.. it my greatest dream..

Chris

It is why I go to sites like http://www.dosgames.com and http://www.dosgamesarchive.com (IIRC on the URLs) to download DOS games to play in full screen DOS on my OS/2 (soon to be eComStation) Warp computer.

Yes.. I know of course.. I have all those dos adventures..
But how big would be the change there ever will be a Spacequest 7 for DOS (eCS)..
Actually.. Spacequest 6 already won't work in eCS anymore (..
(Although Lucas almost did make Monkey Island for OS/2 instead of Win because in win it needed at least 2 CD's because win is not fast enough to decompress and draw on time and OS/2 can do the job perfect so it would fit on one CD, they really did investigate in it.. if there only were a few more eCS/OS2 users.. ..)
Can you believe that almost all XP users are making a lot of effort to get those DOS games working under XP they spend month of time in it, whole groups are trying to create (virtual) DOS things for XP and at the same time M$ is boycotting every effort.. probably that’s the only reason M$ makes so called security updates...
VPC is popular in XP.. not to run eCS or linux.. nope.. to run DOS games.. but VPC only runs a very few..
Now M$ has VPC and the only thing they changed is that VPC needs to connect to the internet, when you block it, it stops working.. M$ needs to know what people are doing with it and what works in it so they can block it in the updates...
Is the whole world crazy??.. or am I the only crazy person??..
why are people running XP??.. If any one who runs XP is reading this.. please try to explain me and answer. "Why are you using XP?"

Chris..

Perhaps people use WinXP because they don't have a choice in what OS one uses(?). I use WinXP at work because that is what DELL has on their computers and it seems the only choice. I did not have a choice at work of what OS to use. I am glad I have a choice in what OS on my home computer (I assembled it myself so I could choose what OS and software to use with it).

We use WinXP Pro at work.

That’s not exactly what I mean.. I'm using XP at work also luckily, we have a lot of long coffee breaks now and I have time to read and write this forum:-) (XP is busy right now and I need to wait for it to finish..)..
When my boss ever learns about OS2 we have a problem.. then we need to work instead of drinking coffee:-)
Btw. my boss is thinking about win 2000, someone told him it would be faster and more stable (I have doubts) but M$ is not really cooperating in it..
What I don't understand is people who use XP at home and put all their time in trying to get certain programs / games to work.. and it’s not only DOS games, several win 95/98 programs don't work with XP also..
(for instance.. at my job we have to throw away all our PP files because its not compatible with PP-XP, they were created in office 2000 under win 9...
Why would I do something like that at home in my free time??
