1. USB/OHCI Drivers? |
|
|
| I know there are OS/2 drivers for USB UHCI chipsets. I tried it on my computer but it won't load when I bootup. I have a main board with SiS USB chipset which I think is OHCI. I tried to find what kind it is. I found drivers for USB and OS/2 but not for my chipset (IIRC from the .txt docs). Are there any for my chipset? |

| HI Well, I don't want to give you false hopes, but there is a rumor that the next USB Device Driver released from IBM is going to support OHCI.... I hope this will turn to reality ! Martin http://www.os2world.com/os2usb |

| I hope it is true, also. I found USB fixes at the http://hobbes.nmsu.edu web site. There were two of them. Would anyone know what they are fixing? Would it be adding support for the OHCI chipset? |

| The 'fixes' at the Hobbes.NMSU.Edu seem only to 'fix' the UHCI chipset. Will the new drivers be part of some future fixpak or can they only be downloaded using the SoftWare Choice subscription?

| The price of a Software Choice at Indelible Blue doesn't seem too high (I will have to save up for it), especially seeing how it might include OS/2 drivers for the OHCI chipset (with so many devices going USB, it will be very helpful). PS I was hoping that it would included on some future fixpak (this way I would not have to pay the price for a Software Choice subscription).

| Since Indelible Blue is no more, is there someplace other than IBM that one can subscribe to Software Choice? I bought a D-Link USB PCI card but the chipset is CMD and is neither Intel nor VIA. Will this work with USB OS/2 drivers? Will it work with the newest USB drivers for OS/2? Should I try finding a USB PCI card that has either Intel or VIA chipset (would it be easier than trying to get the D-Link card to work with Os/2?)? |

The D-Link card was suppose to have VIA chipset. I bought a Radio shack card which suppose to have VIA chipset (VIA = UHCI). Are companies switching from UHCI to OHCI? It is very difficult to find a USB PCI card with UHCI. Is the OHCI the sequel/upgrade to UHCI? Is this why so many companies seem to be switching from it?

| The Radio Shack was suppose to have the VIA chipset but arrived with the Dolphin chipset (which was OHCI). It seems like they do not make a PCI USB card with VIA chipset. PS It would be nice to download a single driver from IBM without having to buy a whole subscription to Software Choice.

IBM just recently released the OHCI drivers for OS/2 and USB. It is available only through Software Choice (IIRC). It would be great to be able to download a single driver for a small fee like $5 or $10 (I have sent severla e-mail to IBM about it but have not received a real response). I am hoping others will have the same idea and use the feedback at the download section of IBM.COM to ask the same thing (if enough ask, perhaps they will consider it[?]).
