Can one use eCups - http://svn.netlabs.org/ecups/ - to get a HP color laserjet 1600 printer to work with an eComStation pc? If yes, how would one do it?

Hi

You may have some luck - so far it does not work with my Canon iP4000 inkjet printer, gives a "pstoraster" error indicating a problem somewhere. Investigating the logs shows a /findfont error occurs before the pstoraster error.

Hopefully a future release will work as this is probably the future of eCS printer drivers.

The question is: Do you need ecups with the HP printer?

If the laser printer has Postscript compatibility then I would say not. You would just need to update the postscript driver (pscript.drv) with the *.ppd file for the printer.

See the AddPpdFiles link on the ecups page for more details.

Regards

Pete

I was told that a future version of eCups might work with my HP CLJ 1600. I hope it is not too far distant.
