I recently found that I now have DSL on my home phone. Are there any recomendations for software, programs or drivers that will allow me to use DSL with my Warp computer? Any recomendations, information or help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

as long as you have an external DSL modem with an ethernet plug and not just USB, odds are you won't have any problems running DSL with your Warp Computer

Thanks for the information. I went back to my local phone company web site to order their dsl service. It checks to see if it is available on my phone line. I had checked it before it said it was but now it says it is not. I will check it again. I might have to go to a cable modem if dsl takes too long to become available on my phone line (I was hoping for dsl since it is less expensive than cable modem service).

Also worth mentioning is that sometimes the DSL modem provided by the ISP tend to cost a lot, if you buy it directly from the ISP. Usually it can be a good idea to buy the equitment yourself since you get what you want. For example, it might be interest of getting a combined ADSL-modem and 4-port switch just to get ride of all the boxed, cables that would be needed. In mine case I'm using a D-Link 604+ that give 3 boxes in one, ie modem, switch and wireless lan connection.

With Verizon DSL (IIRC), the dsl modem is part of the service and does not cost extra (unless one leaves the service within the first year, then it costs about $99).

I will try to remember your suggestion if I do go with a dsl service that does not provide a modem free of charge.

How much to you pay for the DSL service in your area? The ADSL service that I'm using costs around €30 per month for a 512/400 connection using DHCP. Free upload and download, ie no extra charge if I should download 24/7

My local phone company - Verizon - charges about $35 (USD) a month for the DSL service. A cable internet connection costs about $40 (USD) a month if one also has cable television and about $50 (USD) a month if one does not. If I add the cost of the dialup isp (about $20 [USD]) and phone calls (unlimited to the number I chose for the dialup which is about $10 [USD]), the cost is about $30 (USD). I might go with the cable internet connection if the DSL is forever not being available on my phone line (I check on a regular basis).

One good upside is that you won't keep the line buzy when online. What kind of speed are your ISP offering when it comes to DSL?

320 Kbps for 768 Kbps DSL. Download.. This is copied from the Verizon site. It was not easy to find and the speed is not guaranteed. As long as it is faster than my dialup and does not tie up the phone, I would be happy with it even if it is not really really fast. Now all I need is for it to be available on my home phone line.
