Hi all, I've been comparing speeds of mozilla 1.7 and firefox 1.0.1 and firefox is really, really slow compared to mozilla 1.7! Is there a setting or something I should check to see whether firefox on my box is installed correctly? Are people seeing firefox blazingly fast compared to mozilla? cytan |

It's really weird. Firefox in winnt under SVISTA/2 on ecomstation is blazingly fast. On the same machine running svista/2, firefox is so slow. It is slow in getting the data, pulling down the menus from the menubar is slow. I just don't know why. Mozilla is just blazing compared to firefox. There must be something that is slowing firefox down. I just checked the dll's that firefox uses using pstat (just in case it loaded something that is an old dll) and I did not see anything strange. I will check with another machine running ecomstation and see whether it's the same. cytan |

| I don't find OS/2 Fitrefox slow loading pages, mind you OS/2 Nozilla(1.8b2) is not slow either. Both is on an old AMD233mhz on a dial up line. Firefox is faster on loading than Mozilla but both are relatively in that area. Using IE6 on broadband at workdoes not seem to be a huge increase in speed. In fact my Mozilla/Firefox dialup seems faster on paging.

Verify your Bookmark file. I discovered some months ago that my Mozilla (and then Firefox) were terribly slow because the bookmark file was too damn big... After deleting lots of old and broken bookmark entries... the system speed up a lot. |

I found a site http://users-guide.org/index.php?c=text&id=38 which I followed in order to speed up firefox. Unfortunately, no go. Firefox is at least a factor of 2 slower than Mozilla in downloading and displaying a sitel.I give up on firefox. cytan |

| What is the reason for that Firefox is slower than Mozilla? One should think that it would be the other way around due to that the it contains less components.... |

| I really don't know. There is a possibility that my firefox is using some old dll's. Is it possible for you to post the dll's that its using by running pstat? I'd like to see if they match the one's which is being used by my machine. |

Firefox on OS/2 right now will be slower than on windoze because it is not being built statically. I think the problem has been fixed (it was not building profiles), at least my last build no longer exhibited the problem. I informed Mike that it looked like it was now working ok so maybe in the near future there will be static builds which are really quite fast. Andy |
