Adam (14 Mar, 2005 21:2 : I touched up the winxp titlebar buttons you included in the package. I just loaded them up in the icon editor, touched them up and saved them all as winxp2.bmp bitmaps in their respective directories. It certainly saved me some time. It is too bad I cannot do something about the background of the icons on the left side of the titlebar but that is ok - life is good. I am still experimenting with some of the colors in the color scheme too. I am going to play around with the 3d highlight and dark elements of the push buttons.regards, Adam
Adam, I really like the modifications to made to the basic WinXP control buttons. You have done a great job with the both the control buttons and folders. If you wouldn't mind, could you send me your modified bitmaps. If possible, I would like to replace that set in the eCS_windows_windows_theme package with yours when I get some time. I also want like them for use in my desktop themes also. However, this is entirely up to you. dwgras at swbell dot net Lastly, here is another theme and probably my last for now. David |

last updated at 15 Mar, 2005 17:05 (1 times) Thanks David. No problem, I'll bundled them up, zip 'em and send them to ya'. I'll try to get them to you either today or tomorrow. That theme looks pretty slick. I have not installed wps-wizard simply since to make everything work; you need to install the multimedia classes since it beeps at you when you open the Sound Bites folder and the multimedia classes and timidity do not get along and that is the only way I can play midi files with the SB PCI512 card that I have. I really do like Chris' wps-wizard though.regards, Adam |

Looks good! I have been experimenting with the Scheme pallete. Here is one based on my Halloween theme. The only program that has a sight problem is Mozilla with some of the colored text. |

I have attached my test Winxp desktop. I am already attemping to modify some of the other XP colored bitmaps to see how they look using your modifications. Thanks again! David |

| Great work on the new looks! You actually got Candybar/folder stable? How did you do that? I've tried that many times over the years for the transparent background effect. It it always caused me troubles so I gave up on it. I use/ have used Styler/2 and Dialogue Enchancer, (do not use that one anymore since it got discontinued, but I understand Serenity Systems has the code and are doing something with it.), all on eCS 1.2. I haven't tried Candybar on this setup for fear of instablity. What other enhancers do you have installed? And did you do anything special to make it stable?

I am using eCS 1.2 without the eWPS and esCape screensaver installed.
Enhancers installed are XWP 1.03 Doodle's Screensaver version 1.4 eStyler Lite (comes with eCS) Candyfolder 1.0 WPS_Wizard 0.5.1 Dragtext 3.8 eCS 1.2 already comes with Chris's mutimedia extensions ver. 2.8 installed, so installing WPS_Wizard is no problem. In the past, I have had Workplace Security installed also. However, I haven't installed it yet. I have been busy doing other things. I did nothing special to get Candyfolder working, The big thing to remember is that the graphic must be an OS/2 bitmap that is 256 colors are less. I have found one bitmap that it fails to work with. I am still investigating the reason why it fails. |

Just created some new titlebar control buttons for eCS. I call these "Neon". It was just an idea I had. The problem is one never knows how it will look until the theme is created and tested. Haven't quite finished the properties radio buttons yet. |

Don't know why PMView is blurring the picture. Did it twice and it blurred both times. My desktop screen is not blurred. Neon was created on my laptop which always presents the colors lighter than what my desktop does. Sometimes, what looks good on my laptop looks too dark on my desktop.

DavidG (17 Mar, 2005 22:53): I am using eCS 1.2 without the eWPS and esCape screensaver installed...*snip, snip* WPS_Wizard 0.5.1
I've found with WPS Wizard, that if you have the popup data turned on and the data for some file, (say an MP3), showing, and then you switch away to a new desktop, (Xpager), the popup window stays up permantly showing the same thing. Then it cannot be closed and other data windows will not show until reboot. Then it functions as normal. This is not the only reall problem I've seen with it though it was enough to stop me from using it. I've also found the calender and disk data on the desktop a bit buggy.. though I liked that as a feature. How has your experiences been with it? Anyone else?

I have seen a problem with popup help staying on the screen. I just switch to another desktop using ePager. It it gets too bad, I just restart the WPS which clears the problem.

| Well, I've recently installed eCS 1.2, (about two months back), and I've been slowing adding back some of the addons and enhancements that make the WPS such a joy to use. I reconsidered WPS Wizard based on other peoples experiences with it here. I installed it shortly after I posted the above reply. Since that time I've had the hard drive gadget and the calendar gagdet on my desktop and they've been running without a hitch. Hopefully it will stay that way. *crosses fingers* I have not worked my way around the Candybar/folder yet... not sure I will as the only thing that it gives me that I do not have is transparent folders... (I haven't looked at the documentation in a while). The only thing giving me trouble right now is the OD 2.0 Taskmanager not remembering its size or fonts from reboot to reboot. De-installation and re-installation of that part of OD 2 yeilded no changes. Other than that my desktop is very stable. I use Unimaint, Cleanini and WPSTools regularly to catch any problems. I also backup my desktop right after a cleaning so I'll have a clear and proven desktop to go back to should all else fail.

No, it is not Xit. Believe it or not, it is "Ye Old System Clock". 1. Resized with the mouse 2. No titlebar 3. Alt + F7 to move onto the top of the desktop's menubar 4. Create a shadow of the system clock and place it in the system startup folder. 5. Used the font palette to change the menubar's font to Helv 10 pt. so I could make the menubar's height sync with the minimallly-allowed height of the system clock. The clock stays right on top of the menubar. That was all there was to it. Adam |

I don't see anybody using the antialiasing from Innotek on the desktop. It works great on my machine. The instructions to make it work are in Voice under the tips. Anyone could search it on Google. The results are great! you get to use any Truetype on your desktop and it looks much better (IMPO) than using the default Warpsans. You can also use bigger sizes.PS. Be aware that this configuration is not tested and Innotek stays on the docs that the font engine is only meant for Mozilla. (You could try it with any application that you want if you modify the registry) Leonardo Pino |
