| Hi folks, For serveral months a problem is bugging me. I have a OS/2 WSeB 4.52 (ACP2 R2, which netbios name is SNATCHER) up and running for several years now. This machine provide many services for several machines I have at home in two main networks (for security and physical reasons, they are split in two networks interconnected by the server): GILIAN, JAMIE, RANDAM and PETITMG (netbios names). The LAN Server Network domain name is OMNIUS. After many changes on LMHOSTS (since I have no NBNS/WINS), I was able to make WinXP and OS/2 WSeB to see each other using NET VIEW commands. I am even able to do NET USE and everything, but still was not able to logon using IBM PLC 4.5, Windows Logon or even Comtarsia Logon Client. 10.2.1.1 SNATCHER #PRE #DOM:OMNIUS 10.2.1.2 JAMIE #PRE Tweaking some more IBM PLC 4.5 I configured the secondary domain (Warp Server Domain) and then, when logging in in Local Machine, I was surprised by IBM PLC telling me that the logon was completed on my server machine... my home directory was even connected to a drive letter. Anyone has any clues? First: the Windows XP group is OMNIUS_WIN (it is said it cannot be the same as the domain name). Second, the output of nbtstat reads: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc>nbtstat -c Conexão local: Tabela de nomes de caches remotas de NetBIOS Nome Tipo Endereço Host Duração [seg] Conexão local 2: Tabela de nomes de caches remotas de NetBIOS Nome Tipo Endereço Host Duração [seg] C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc>nbtstat -n Conexão local: Tabela de nomes locais de NetBIOS Nome Tipo Status Conexão local 2: Não há nomes no cache Thanks in advance! |

| Hi fudeba, as far as I understand from your description, the problem might be that WinXP tries to become the "primary search service" (sorry, I don't know how that is translated to english correctly, I only have german windozes here), regardless of whether you have the IBM PLC installed. BTW: Is that the PLC for XP or still the "Win9x" PLC? With WSeB as primary DC, have you checked the XP machines event log? There should be an entry referring to the LM services... maybe this helps in getting the XP setup correctly. Also, have you checked the WSeB's IBMLAN.INI settings? Maybe somthing helpful in there? I'm sorry to not being able to help you - on my network, I have WSeB (primary DC) and also XP machines, but they don't use the IBM PLC because I don't have a need for that (share access control works without it). Also, I know that Windows does have some strange "interpretation" of user-ids and passwords regarding "local logon" and "network access". But I'm not sure if that is involved here... Greetings |
