1. Digital Cameras and OS/2? |
|
|
I bought a used Agfa ePhoto Smile digital camera. When I registered it at the Agfa site, they had OS/2 as among the choices for/of operating systems. When I did a search for programs for this camera, there was only a fix for the Win software that came with the camera. Is there a program or software that one can used to download the photos from the camera to an OS/2 Warp comptuer?

| How is the camera connected? If it uses the COM-port You would be able to use Third Eye; you might noticed one of the banner on the main page. //Kim |

| It connects via the serial port. I bought a used Agfa camera. It is no longer made by the manufacturer. The software that comes with works on Win95 and on. I used it but could not connect to the camera. I am hoping that it might work with a program for OS/2. PS I am hoping the conect problem might be the cable. I was able to find one and ordered it. It has not arrived yet.

I heard they have a newer version of ThirdEye. I will try it with my newer camera - an Argus CD1500. It has both an USB cable and a serial cable. I will try both since I have a VIA PCI USB card that works with OS/2 and its USB UHCI drivers.

| I heard that GPHOTO is good for/with USB cameras. It is a command line. Is there a 'frontend' for it ? Will there or can there be a 'front end' (PM) for it? PS I have installed it and will try my Argus digital camera with it - via the USB cable that came with it.

Starting to get off topic here now But what the heck it's still within the thread. But, I checked the url to suggested and found that the had a short review of the the Canon Ixus 330, but in the states it goes under name Canon PowerShot S330.http://www.pcphotomag.com/content/currentissue/canon.html Would you concider photography on your list of hobbies? I sort of joined this hobby rather late, around 4 hours ago and bought the Canon IX (APS camera). Uses this a lot when I'm around and on vacation. But for daily snap shoots I usually uses the smaller Canon Ixus II. |
