Looks there is finally an open source virtual machine that runs OS/2 MCP and eComStation. www.virtualbox.org

Just need the additions ported to run on eCS-OS/2

1. accelerated video driver
2. mouse sync
3. clock sync

There are already Linux and MS-win versions of the additions.

Isn't that a little premature? Maybe we should get a good working version for OS/2 host first...

No, it is not premature.

Your are correct in that there are two parts, guest and host. We want both and since it is open source the OS/2 community can port both.

But the guest should be done first
1. It is a much smaller job
2. code is less complex (easier)
3. It will be immediately useful to people that want to run OS/2 or eComStation

The host is a much larger and complex job. To get useful performance also means it will need to work with the low level parts of OS/2. This will take a lot of time and special expertise.
