I've for at least a year tried to make my scanner (Mustek bearpaw 1220cu) to work with Tame/2. I know it should and I have after a (long) while realized that I needed some backend stuff, gt68x, with the file PS1Dfw.usb. From the beginning I thought I just needed the Tame/2 pack. I've thought of asking at this forum several times, but I kind of gave it up and thought that my scanner was not supported anyway. But today sucess! I think its real bad if there are more people as "stupid" as me, that can't make use of this really nice and elegant scanner-software. So the solution, which I haven't been able to find anyware was to just make a couple of catalogues (which I understood when I tested the software via the commandline, because it asked for that path)and place it on the C: drive, like this:
C:\Sane\share\sane\gt68xx\ and in that last folder put the firmwarefile ( PS1Dfw.usb). And voilà, it works! Well I write this to hopefully help other non-technicians that haven't grasped these facts. For other backends I guess you just exchange the last folder and put the right firmware in it.
Happy scanning!
