| Hello, I 've installed eCS 1.1, from CD, on a portable (where no more floppy is on and without USB-floppy connected). What USB drivers do I need to have my A-drive back on my USB-floppy drive? regards |

Hi USB seems fairly "plug'n'play" here but I have never tried a USB floppy... If you are talking about using the USB drivers supplied with eCS1.1 I suggest that you update all USB and IDE drivers - and maybe others available - with the latest packages available from ecomstation. There is a tool available called eCSMT which you can also download from ecomstation and which may help in keeping the system up to date. The downside is that you have to do a bit of reading to work out how to use it
In your config.sys file:- You need however many of whatever type of controller(s) is/are available to your system - the usbbasic install should handle that. As a "for example": If you have 1 USB2 and 2 USB1 controllers you should see something like this in config.sys after installing usbbasic:- BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS Note the USB1 lines (BASEDEV=USBOHCD.SYS) could be different and may use BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS instead - just a different type of USB1 controller You need usbmsd package installed - the installer will probably opt for the default of The default may well work fine for you as you only mention the 1 USB floppy and no other USB drives. The above default also defaults to using the USB floppy as drive A: unless you specify otherwise in the parameters.

| Hello Pete, Here are the results of my testings : I looked for actual drivers of USB-basic and USB-msd. (I've found version 10.162 on the ecom-site. I've downloaded them. I directly started to install these 2 packages as descripted in the corresponding read.me files. => no success with this installation. I saw that the floppy led sometimes was activated, sometimes not. When I asked access to the floppy, the diskette was not recognised. I tried to reproduce what I've done. But I could not reproduce it. I tried to desinstall and reinstall the USB-basic and USB-msd packages. I did a new desinstall (now I removed all usb-lines in + I removed also all corresponding USB-files in \os2\boot) And now installation was successfull. And what do you guess ? Yes I directly got access to the A-drive ! ! So bottomline : Before you begin installation of USB-basic and USB-msd : These lines were added to the end during the installation. code: (3 times USBUHCD.SYS and 1 USBEHCD.SYS because HCIMONIT reported that 3 UHCI and 1 EHCI were found on the system)
I hope this can help others also. Regards, PHE |
