1. Migrate your apps from OS/2 to Linux |
|
|
| Well, I'm not posting this so people actually should move away from OS2 to Linux; just want to state this so this thread turns out to a nice flame thread. But, the reason is rather that it might be interesting reading for OS2 developers to gain knowledge when porting for OS2. So check out following article at IBM Migrate your apps from OS/2 to Linux. |

| Well, I too, have no interest in moving to Linux or causing anyone else to do so. However, if one has a Linux machine, many Linux based programs can be ran via Hoblink, (comes with eCS App-pak). Hence, I'm looking into running a dedicated Linux box, (haven't looked at Linux in years), To that end I've been wondering what distro to use keeping in mind that I'm an major OS/2 user. Is this inappropriate in this forum?

From what I have also heard from people at the developer work in Dresden the Linux kernel is getting more and more broken. Especialy after version 2.4 to 2.6. You realy wonder is you want to run your line of business apllications on a platform that has such an unstable API. Device drivers being broken, the same going for applciations. |

Hey Kim, That's a great article and if read backwords could aid developers to migrate apps from Linux to OS/2. |
