| I will check the manual and the web site about configuring another dialer. I will check FAQ about the situation. The dialer (IIRC) has not been updated since 2001. ATT bought out the old isp service that IBM had. ATT has updated the phone numbers list but not the modems list or the dialer in while. I have sent them an e-mail about updating their dialer for OS/2 but all I have received was an automated response. I will try again. I will also try other dialers.

I will send an e-mail to ATTGlobalNetwork about an update. The GlobalNetwork used to be the one by IBM. It was bought out by ATT but I am not sure if they are interested in supporting OS/2 users since their dialer has not been updated (not like the dialers for Windows or MAC). I have sent them an e-mail asking about updating it but only received an automated response. I will try again. I will also try another dialer too.

Why doesn't you use the dialer supplied ?! I mean everything is there to make it work? Just wondering. I got the OS2 dialer here as well on my side since I used to use the dialer back in 2000 when connecting into the IBM Global Network. I'll see what I can find there as well. |

Kim (Jun 13, 2002 11:13): [quote]InJoy dialer is just not a simple dialer, ...
I've seen that too... but SafeFire PPP is (avoid the latest beta though because it contains bugs). If you have a local LAN at home and have the need to share the modem betwen the different system this would be the ultimate solution.
I'm connecting to my isp with SafeFire at the moment just like that. I've got one machine to connect/AutoWGet files/mail etc. and another for surfing and writing (NAT). SafeFire also support xDSL, ISDN, LAN (Links)

ATTGlobalNetwork was the IBMGlobalNetwork. ATT bought IBM's isp service. The dialer has not been updated in a while and neither has the modem list. The phone numbers are updated on a regular basis. I will check out the site again for the information.

ATTGlobalNetwork was the IBMGlobalNetwork. ATT has not updated the dialer or the modem list in quite awhile. I will check the ATTGN site for information.

I e-mailed ATTGlobalNetwork about their OS/2 dialer. I received only an automated response. A few days after I had e-mailed them, I noticed that the dialer for OS/2 had a newer date but the same version number. I downloaded it but it seems to have no reall changes (it still does not 'authenticate' after dialing/connecting to the ATTGlobalNetwork isp). I will e-mail them again.

| Just wondering, but are you able to connect to other location/connection other than AT&T ? Are you able to use the fax with the modem? Try, just call some old BBS using for example ZOC or something. |

What do your settings (properties) for the AT&T Global Dialer say? If you're in the US, then I'm fairly sure that on the first page of "settings", "Account" should say usinet, "User ID" should say whatever 7-character ID you were assigned and, on the "Service" page, the first radio button, "The Internet", should be selected. Right?

I have sent an e-mail to ATTGlobalNetwork. They did not reply but the OS/2 dialer has a newer date on it even though the version number is still the same. I have tried it but have not noticed any real changes.

The settings does have usinet plus my account id/login name. It does have 'internet' too. I am having trouble opening the 'properties' since it 'shrinks out of site' and won't come back till I 'ctl-esc' for the active window and close it. I use the 'setup' feature to change things.

Tom, regarding that the windows is out of reach, try to click on the window to make it active and then press ALT+F7. You will now be able to move around the window using the mouse. |

I am able to see the properties after right clicking on 'properties' after pressing 'ctl' and 'esc' buttons. The settings seem to be okay. I will remember your suggestion the next time I try to look at the properties for the dialer. Thanks for the infomation.

| I have a feeling ATTGlobalNetwork only supports OS/2 since it was a 'package deal' when they bought the isp service from IBM. I wished IBM had not sold to them. When I had Win3.1, their Worldnet service kepted crashing my computer (it might have been either/or Win 3.1 and their service). PS I liked having an e-mail that ended with @ibm.net . I thought it was cool. PSS Since there is a Star Trek service for Trekkies (by Earthlink), it would be neat if there was a Warp or eCS service for OS/2-eCS users (by Earthlink too?). Just wishfull thinking.
