What has happened to http://www.vispro.com? The domain name is up for sale? Were they bought out? Did they go out of business? When one clicks on the url (above), a site comes up saying the domain name is for sale.

| Vispro seems to be gone. Is DrDialog a suitable replacement for it? TomLeeM

| Is it one of those 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it' prices? It would be nice if Watcom had open sourced its REXX programs/compilers with the C/C++ plus ones.

| The last time I checked quite a while ago 2years atleast or more was when the Vendor asked a general question on the website asking IBM's direction on SAA Rexx and OS/2 future at IBM, shortly there after the site was closed down. Hockware produced a Visual Basic Add-on, you might be able to trace down the developer, however, I would think this wiill not be fruitful. The Idea of Releasing Watcoms VxRexx 2.1 Client/Server product would be a good idea to the Open Source World. |

| I have VisproRexx 3.01 Gold and Vispro Reports and VxRexx. In my opinion, there is nothing out there that comes even close to the Hockware products (even with their bugs and qwerks). For RAD there is simply no substitute, it's easy and intuitive compared to the alternatives and is powerful enough to give access to things like graphics primatives and advanced OS features. I can "almost" do anything that can be done with C at the application level with VisproRexx. Oh how I wish someone could find David Hock and get him to release the sources even if for pay. VxRexx is very good but takes a more low level approach to things than Vispro. It reminds me of the Borland Pascal for Windows of several years ago. One advantage it has over Vispro is that windows can be created dynamically, this can be used to do some neat stuff although I admit that most people don't need it. In Vispro, all windows have to be defined at build time. Using Dr Dialog and M.E.D. may be good, but there no where close to the above two -Jason |
