| The IBM PC 330 has two USB ports and a fair guess is that it's the first generation of USB available since the system is from 1996. But would an USB printer work together with this old system (and yes, using a printer that is supported under OS2) ? //zn |

Of course it will work! The only thing the usb printer driver does is saying to the system that the printer is attached to USB instead of LTP. YOU WILL NEED A DRIVER FOR YOUR PRINTER, besides of the usb printer driver. You'll find a wide up-to-date range of supported USB printers for the OS/2 platform in my hardware list (www.jonasbuys.easynet.be/os2/os2chl.txt), when you see in the printers section of the list. Personally, one of the best printers I've tested, and that I have kept for daily use, is the Epson C70. This one can be both attached to LTP and USB.Good luck, Jonas Buys. |

| Sounds great since I wanted to make sure since it's like USB v1.0 and not v1.1. |

| USB 1.0 never really existed 1.1 is probably what you have , USB 2.0 is the newest.. almost every 2.0 device is backward compatable to 1.1 (there is no way your machine has usb 1.0 in it, the only computer i've ever seen that in is from 1993 and is completely useless since almost no devices use it |

| Sounds great since it would then be a safe buy to get a USB printer to this system. //zn |

| Zionite it will be also good for you to test your USB ports with a device like a mouse. With that you will be really sure that your ports are working fine. martin |

I was able to find a VIA chipset PCI USB card (at a computer show/sale). The USB drivers at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu work with Intel and USB chipsets (OHCI). I use the Canon S300 USB printer that works with this USB driver and the Canon S300 driver from http://www.ibm.com ddk online site.
OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end.

I'll give it a try with a USB mouse before spending some money on a printer, thanks. //zn |
