Are there any good file transfer programs with a good graphical user interface that has been or recentl updated? I use the one with the internet access kit that came in the bonus pak.

Emtec FTP Client. Why? Because it is the only OS/2 ftp client that allows me to log in to sites which have secure ftp protocols. It has a decent GUI as well. It's on Hobbes. Search for eftp503.zip

last updated at 08 Jan, 2003 21:59 (1 times) Weee! It supports sftp, I've totally missed that out! Very nice! How about support for the latest stack within OS2 ? I've tried earlier version of it but it didn't work that well... And here is an url to Emtec page for more info about their ftp client:http://www.emtec.com/ens/ |

I haven't been having any problems with CPU utilization. For some servers, I have to disable directory caching to get file lists to refresh properly, but you can do this on the fly, so it hasn't been a problem for me. If it's been awhile since you tried it, I'd give it another look.

I did not see ver 507 at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu but I downloaded 503 from there (was 507 uploaded there recently?). I have a membership with http://www.os2bbs.com so downloading was not a problem (if you need a copy, I can attach 507 to an e-mail?).

No, I got it from Hobbes, check the previous post for direct download link. As well, I can't find anythong about secure ftp (sftp) support among the docs and as well there is no settings about sftp within the client. What did I miss out since I can't find or is the support builtin without any mention about it ?

I honestly don't know if NetDrive supports sftp. Perhaps we can coordinate a test.

In addition to NetDrive, there's also an FTP IFS on Hobbes. I use it and have had good results. As it's name implies, it's an IFS that allows you to map FTP sites to their own drive letters, just like the plugin for NetDrive. Useful if you don't need any of the other plugins for NetDrive and don't want to install the whole package just for an FTP IFS. Otherwise I don't know how the features compare. I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but having a drive letter mapped to an FTP site allows you to use the WPS or your favorite (PM) file manager to access FTP sites, which IMHO is better than even a well-done PM FTP client, because it's transparent. Good luck! -Mo

Using either Netdrive or ftp ifs sounds like an idea for sites that I need access on a daily base. But, I would also need a proper working ftp clinet as well that supports sftp since some of the sites that I visits demands that. New thread asking about sftp for OS2. /Kim
