| Hi, I have problem with my OS/2 machine. My OS/2 machine failed to proceed its process until the system started. The process took some time before this message raised : IBM RS for OS/2 Start Monitor c:\BonusPak\rs231b\PPM731B.exe failed ! ExecPgm = 31, Reason = PMMERGE => DOSCALL1
Then it halted !!
Any helps will be highly appreciated.

| To get to a command prompt (c:/), press alt+f1 during the start-up, when there is a white blob and OS/2 in the top left of the screen. You can then choose to go to a prompt (f2) or boot using an archived config sys, or the original config.sys Stuart |

| the Doscall1 can be a big problem, and is not always repaired by booting to an archived setup... hope yours comes back... this just happened to me, Why don't you have bootable floppies for os/2... NO a windows floppy will not work... to boot os/2 Alt -F1 works, but not everytime... I always set my system for the recover menu to boot at each start, unfortuanatly this feature was removed in eCS1.2.. hope they put it back in.. In os/2 open the system properties, (right click on desktop) go to properties, and click on archives.. read down and you will see the show archive button.. If you can not restart your operating system from the recovery menu then use or make the install os/2 install diskettes, and try reinstall os/2 over the installed version.. not the best, but can save time.. I hope you keep all your programs on a seperate partition... Best of luck...., No I did not recover from my fatal Doscall2 error, the system kept telling me that the "Dolscall1.dll" was not in place but it was... in this case I ended up loosing my whole harddrive... so be carefull... luckly I have most of my programs on cd to restore.. |

| So, do u mean that re-install the disk is the best solution ?? If u think so, how to dump the disk's content ?? I have applications and database (DB2) installed and I need to dump them first. Can you tell me how to dump the disk (in OS2) from c: prompt, so that after I re-install it, I can easily re-dump to the disk and execute the applications ?? Thanks. |
