1. Alternatives to MSN Messenger |
Hi! I currently use MSN Messenger with my Windoze PC. I am intending to format the Windoze partition just as soon as I have installed Warp or eCS and got it working - lot of issues first! I am looking around for a replacement for MSN Messenger and AMSN for Linux has been recommended. Now, does AMSN or any other clone work under OS/2 with or without FreeX86 - or is there a Java based client that works with OS/2? Also, will these work the same as MSN Messenger - I mean will I be able to talk to people who are using MSN Messenger? I don't want to have to keep Windoze just to run this and it would be nice to have an entirely OS/2 alternative? Has anyone had any experience of mixed messengers?

| I use jsuperchat (now called JBuddy) it is a java client which supports MSN, Yahoo, AIM and ICQ. Works well with Java Webstart and Innotek Java 1.4, it is free from http://www.zionsoftware.com/products/messenger/index.html it also supports file transfer (I believe in all clients which support it, however I've only tested this in AIM and ICQ) |
