I have read some posts where they wondered what it would do to OS/2 drivers if they no longer make computers.

Another suggestion for new name would be International Business Consultants. Oh well, let se what happends, might be so that big China would actually love to get their hands on OS2 as well. Know that there earlier was mentioning within IBM that Bank of China was interested of installing WSOD at 55.000 sites... if it ever came around to that I don't know.

well, to what I know, IBM only sold to Lenovo the Thinkpad/Thinkcentres (Notebooks and PCs) division. This turns lenovo to a worldwide company that will be number #3 in the world after Dell and HP. IBM will continue providing solutions to enterprise customers with servers, retail hardware, software and services. IBM will be the #1 lenovo customer and will resell theirs machine to convine them with technology solutions. Everybody this was a good idea from IBM, since the PC market was only giving losses. IBM gave the PCs productions to lenovo that is #1 in Asia that his current business is to sell PCs. IBM will had a percentage of the lenovo shares. Well, this has happened before, IBM had sold the printer division to lexmark, Internet services to ATT, networking division to Cisco, and now the PCs to lenovo.

Selling the network division is still an open question why, I fully understand why they sold of the PC division due to that the profit on a single PC is so low that if it's sent in for one warranty repair it's a loss. But, I think that we all can agree that it's a bit odd to see IBM leave the PC era behind. But, then again, IBM has historical been a company that left old technology behind to focus on new.

Also, this does not change things all that much. There will still be Thinkpads (which was the only hardware that was really selling) They will be selling hardware to clients under the IBM name (if they keep thinkcentre or not who knows) and the new company is going to be based in New York, undoubtly off-campus at Armonk (I live about 15mins from IBM HQ). Really, it's like having the IBM PC division actually focusing on hardware again, so it may actually work out better for anyone (like me) who always liked IBM hardware (maybe we'll see a IBM branded PC again) since I doubt lenevo will be doing too much within the US under their own name. Like I said, I actually followed IBM hardware since the early days, and I remember lenevo, in fact I actually have an old IBM PC which was made in china (lenevo), and I have a PC Junior which actually has a lenevo sticker on the inside of the case
