Ok first off, sorry for the newb email, but I wanted to ask a quick question.

To bring everybody up to speed, I'm running on a Win XP computer (semi-new laptop) and I've recently found a game I used to play in middle-school (which had macs). I need to emulate OS2 on my laptop to play Escape Velocity and I could really use some help. I'd really really rather not install a seperate partition or anything like that, but would rather just run an emulator as an app off of Win xp. Is this the site where I could find such an emulator? Does one even exist? And if not here, then where? Any replies would be extremily helpful, I'm dying to play.

Let me know...

Hi Sev

If you want to run OS/2 under Windows (since making another patition is not an option), possible you can use an x86 emulator.

The most commun I know are:
- Boches (http://bochs.sourceforge.net/)
- MS Virtual PC (It was Connectix VirtualPC after Microsoft bought it).

I tried Virtual PC under Windows and OS/2 can run there.

The bad thing is that OS/2 emulated under Windows is really slow. It works, but it is slow, you will need to try to by yourself to know if the game you want to run works fine.

Alright, I think you might be a little off here in your search. OS/2 is NOT MAC OS Version 2. It is IBM Operating System 2, a OS which was started back in the late 80's as an alternative to Windows. It is a fully 32 bit, multitasking OS for IBM Compatable PC's. There are no emulators which I know of which can emulate Mac hardware on an IBM pc.

I've tried a mac emulator on a win98 computer a couple of years back. It's still available at http://www.emulators.com as the free download of softmac.
It's a real pain to set up, you need access to an actual Mac computer to load the rom images. Then you need a copy of Mac OS to run on it. A mac friend of mine pointed me to the free old downloads from the Apple site. Once I got all that working, it did emulate a mac really well.

If you try this, you may find it is what you're looking for.
