My keyboard layout is OK, execept . . .
the ALT-GR key seems not to work.

I can not access any char with ALT-gr.
It is not very usefull (Very difficult even, eg. for a backslash, or the @-sign. And the ALT-codes do not work).

How can I solve the issue?

I work with OS2 warp 4 English without fixpak.

Dont' worry my Wincozza Pro doesn't even recognize the Italian keyboard, I suggest you use the keyboards and code pages instead.

I presume you have the correct keyboard anf locale set up in Local System -> System setup? They may have defaulted to en_US by mistake.

PHE (27 May, 2006 16:12):
I can not access any char with ALT-gr.

I know that my French keyboard has ALT-GR whereas my American keyboard does NOT have ALT-GR and puts the various symbols on diffferent keys. For instance, @ is found on the same key as 2. Also, with the American keyboard, you need not activate the SHIFT or Caps-Lock to use the numbers at the top of the keyboard, and therefore the @ will be shift+2. On the American keyboard, you have ALT on the left and right of the space bar, but the one on the left has the same effect as the one on the right, it is not ALT-gr.

I am sure that the best way to use your keyboard is to install the good language files, corresponding to your country precisely. This should activate every special key and key combination.

Hello,

Thanks to everybody that give me some feedback.

I've found the solution.

But I must admit that I've forgotten to mention I worked in VPC.
It was the "Host system key" that caused the problem.
Alt-gr is by default the "host system key".
I changed it to "window-left" and all my missed chars are there.

It was in fact a stupide problem.
But who has seen others?

regards

phe
