I bought a Genesyscard reader and it works with eCS only when I connect it after boot.. Because its a build in card reader and gets connected on the main board its realy a problem.. I made myself an on/off switch on it to overcome this problem, but its not great, now a switch sticks out in front and not everyone can do this. I did read on the USB site more card reader have this boot problem.. when its connected at boot they don't work well.. I tried all switches and many versions of USB drivers (also the CW ones).. nothing works.. If someone has a usefull hint.. I would be very happy:-)) Chris.

When its connected (on) during boot, refresh does nothing. When I (re)connect it after boot then refresh works like it suppose to do, but with the newest mass storage driver refresh is no longer needed, I just put in a card and it gets mounted but as I said before, it has to be connected after boot.. I think during boot it does not get recognised as a removable media, because when there is a card in it during boot I can read this card only.. when I reject the drive then its impossable to refresh/remount it again and when I remove the card I get big problems.. Only when its (re)connected after boot all works perfect and even when I remove a card it gets recognised and gives a message of possible data lost..

My enlight card reader does this too, however if I remove the media, put it back in and hit refresh (sometimes a couple of times) it finds it fine.. it just sometimes takes a bit of time.. had this same problem in windows with it however doesn't seem to be OS/2 specific.

For windows it has a CD with drivers and it works. but windows use a different protocol, I get four extra (floppy?) drives called SD,SM,CF and MS (with drive letters of course), after I put in a card I can open the correct 'floppy' There is no mounting and unmounting.. I highly prefere the eCS/OS2 protocol mounting only when needed and I don't have to figure out what 'floppy' of 4 to open.. Grts Chris.

I'm in the same position for at least one site. But, one of the changes in Mozilla 1.7b is that the Password Manager can show the passwords. David |

I made also some tests with CW USBMSD v1.2b. Using it with IBMRSCSI.FLT & /FORCE_TO_REMOVABLE gives possibility to use my SD card but only one card at system up (for reading another card i need reboot system - there is no effect by refresh after card change). |

You need to have USBmon in your startup folder.. The settup should do this for you.. If not you can use refresh media.. This is my config line BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD /FLOPPIES:0 /REMOVABLES:2 /FIXED_DISKS:0 /FORCE_TO_REMOVABLE You need the latest USB from eCS or IBM usbs10135.zip (24-3-04) With the CW version and older IBM versions you have to reconnect the reader wich is difficult when its build in... Also I have not any problems with sweex flash stick 128 Mb.. Chris

Chris, All drivers are up-to-date. After changing number removables from 1 to 2, SD card become avaliable for r/w. But problem with lack of refresh when card is changed remains. In other words - it looks like my Genensys 7in1 card reader isn't reporting ot OS that card is removed. But why "Refresh removable media" isn't working - I don't understand, (afterall this command is polling device instead waiting for event from device).

It works OK.. But it does take a while before I get the popup "drive available" About 1-2 minuters.. The flash pen is faster. Maybe refresh is faster also.. I didn't try it yet..

Folks, when you say "latest drivers", can you *please* be more specific, latest is a relative term, absolute terms are far more informative, such as: Driver version: 10.135 File: USBMSD.EXE Size: 189123bytes Source: http://www.os2warp.be/... People get drivers from many sources & often have to cross-check that their source is what the author is talking about.

Ok, I did figure out some things.. First of all the USBEHCD.SYS makes problems, when you only have only ehcd ports it wont work, I have one ehcd port and 'accidentially' used it it did make a lot of problems so I remmed the USBEHCD.SYS in config.sys.. I still have 7 ports left wich are ohcd.. And on an 'older' PC I have only uhcd and these also work great Secondly in the /REMOVABLES:4 line you have to put one number higher as you intend to use, it seems the first one is unaccescable, maybe reserved, maybe a bug? Chris..
