Due to that there is now raisen lots of question if Hobbes will be around or not in the future there is now lots of efforts done to set up alternatives. But, why aren't we looking at what already around? I mean there some great German sites available such as Leo or we can mention the Swedish Sunet that already today mirrors down the entire Hobbes and are connected to the Swedish Backbone network on a 500mb connection? And of course there is the existing Hobbes servers as well to support. Also, has anyone thought about how much bandwidth the Hobbes ftp uses per month, I mean even someone would set up a new service it would be totally dead service if the download rate would be around a few kb per second.
So lets look into a long term solution instead of short term.
