| Hi, everyone. I'm now running Warp 4.52 on a Dell Dimension 8100 (1.3ghz) that was given to me. It's got onboard USB (I'm thinking 1.1) and I ran a PCI sniffer that said it was UHCI. What I'm not sure about is getting USB to work correctly with the drivers. I've got a bunch of stuff remarked out in CONFIG.SYS, but I'm not sure what to do to get things to work. I've a Lexar 128MB flash drive and a MyMusix MP3 player (well, it does more than that) that I'd like to try. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, |

| Hausmaus, what I would suggest as a first step to that is: Then, if possible, make sure the USB controller was set up to use an IRQ (some BIOSes allow for IRQ-free operation of the USB controller and I experienced that IRQs are mandatory for USB2.0 at least) Next, your config.sys should list (at least) the lines...: (If your sniffer mentioned an EHCI controller as well, that'll mean you've got USB2.0 and you'll need an additional line This should enable a first try to see if things work. | I wasn't able to find the updated drivers as such, but I went ahead and unremarked the settings in CONFIG.SYS. No dice, unfortunately. My Lexar 128MB Jumpdrive (which is USB 1.1) has a little light on it that lights up when it gets plugged in. So, I'm open to any and all suggestions. If you want, you can email me at hausmaus@darktech.org and we can go from there too or in here. I'll keep tinkering with things to see if they'll work. Thanks, |

| Hi, the Lexar's LED is lit? Note that there's more to it than just the drive object: The media has to provide a file system that OS/2 can handle. As long as the USB Mass Storage Devices ("MSD") use a FAT16 partition, you'll be able to use them in OS/2. Some MSD however have FAT32 which ends up in being able to see the drive but not being able to use it unless you have FAT32.IFS installed... and then, there's another issue (possibly) with the "drive geometry". I'll see if I can put together a list of updated files you'll need along with the URLs for downloading and some basic instruction, okay? Otherwise, you still can take a look at the USB stuff at: Greetings |

| I know that this drive will work as I saw it on os2warp.be's USB stuff: --- URL: http://www.digitalfilm.com/dynamic-frameset_jd.htm... Comments: OS/2 CHL hardware testing team has successfully tested this device using IBM's latest USB MSD device drivers, downloadable via OS/2 DDP OnLine using active SWC subscription. MCP2 and eCS 1.1 do NOT support this product out-of-the-box: driver updating is required. David Chacona also reports that the 128MB version works fine with eCS 1.1. So, I just have to get the updated drivers, it seems and it should be fine... or wait for my friend to send his eCS 1.2 that he bought and didn't want anymore. :> Later, |

Hi, ...well in this case, I would say "go for the eCS 1.2". But while we're at it: What was the reason for your friend not wanting the eCS 1.2 anymore? What OS is he turning to instead? Greetings |

| He's running WIndows XP. He originally purchased eCS for his BBS, but with a change of BBS software, he decided to just go with XP. He tried to sell the $600 or so worth of eCS-related software, but no one would go over $300. Knowing that I'd put it to good use and his money wouldn't be for naught, he told me he's giving it to me. He should be sending it here soon to me. I checked with Bob St. John and all is legal for me to be given the eCS. I think I'll just wait to try anything else until I get eCS. Later, |
