1. Embedded OS/2? |
|
|
| I have heard of operating systems that are 'embedded'. I have heard of a version of OS/2 that is 'embedded'. Are there any devices that use the 'embedded' version of OS/2? PS Too bad there isn't a Warp CE version for handhelds (it could have 'handheld' versions of IBM Works).
OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end.

| Yepp, Achim had session at Warpstock Europe that was about os2 embedded in devices. At the session he showed a SetTop box (Met@box) that uses OS2 as OS. Check the second picture on the following url: http://www.os2world.com/gallery_wse2k.shtml //Kim |

| Could the 'embedded' version of OS/2 be used in a device like a pda? (where the os is embedded). |

| Yes it can be used as such given that the processor is an x86 varian (those are not ideal for such work, but possible such as the newer ST variants) |

| Just for the fun of it, but it would be nice to see a spec how to set up a minimized OS2-enviroment that could be used for PDAs and other embedded solutions; ie whitepappers. |

I gues it would be called WarpCE? It could have a 'pda' version of IBM Works? If there is a Linux pda (IIRC), why not an OS/2 pda(?).
